Weight Lifting Programs for Beginners

"Finding the BEST Workout Program For Novice Lifters"

Ok first things first... if weight lifting programs for
beginners is what you are after, then you have come to the right place.

BUT!  It is very important that you talk to your doctor before undertaking an exercise routine, ESPECIALLY if you are new to weight training.

Be sure to read the disclaimer.

With that said, you've probably arrived here with the premise of narrowing down the best novice weight training routine to get you started.

Unfortunately, there is no "best" program, for everyone... but there are weight lifting programs for beginners that will work BEST for you.

The trick is... to find which workout routine beginners plan is optimal for you and go for it!

We are all different and quite frankly some of us respond better to certain workout programs than others.

We ALL, however, have to start somewhere.

Now before venturing into a beginner's simple power lifting program or 5X5 routine, I think it is very important to understand the fundamentals of the major compound lifts and how to do them properly.

I have found both of the following books very useful when taken into account BEFORE finalizing any weight lifting programs for beginners.

 Starting Strength

Starting Strength, by Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore, is ideally aimed at strength coaches. It would be an important addition to any beginners' strength training arsenal.  Why?  Because it can teach YOU how to do the core lifts correctly.

If you want to get stronger and bigger, then learn how to lift properly.  Don't "catch-on" from Joe Bodybuilder at your local gym.  Learn the right way from the beginning. Practical Programming for Strength Building

And here is another gem by Rippetoe and Kilgore. It can assist you with developing your own weight training program, whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced lifter.

This book is a great companion to "Starting Strength".  If you're serious about learning from the best than these two books are must haves.

As I have indicated before, I do not intend on re-inventing the wheel when it comes to weight lifting programs that I believe work.

Here are some links to weight lifting programs for beginners that you may find useful:

Bill Star's 5 x 5 Strength Training Program for beginners
In my opinion, this is a MUST READ for all weight lifters.

Discover the core lifts that help you gain mass, such as Squats, Deadlifts and Bench Press, as laid out in this 5x5 muscle training program for novice lifters.

Novice Training Program from Starting Strength
For the newbie trainee.  If you purchase the "Starting Strength" book above, you'll have access to all the info.  Otherwise, this link is a good place to start.
